Gunner + Genesis

Meet Gunner & Genesis! These two are the best of “furiends.”

Gunner & Genesis are both rescue dogs from Born Free Pet Shelter. Despite not having the best start to life, they are happy & healthy pups!

Genesis @genesis.gsd is actually a purebred German Shepherd Dog. When she was adopted from the rescue nobody knew what breed she was. We all assumed she was a Shepherd mix because she was a stray puppy. I was intrigued to find out more about her ancestry, so I decided to get her DNA tested. When the results came back, I was shocked to find out she is not a mix at all. Her coat is solid black as well as her nose and paws. At five months old, Genesis is a spunky girl who gets herself into EVERYTHING. Her favorite chew toys include (but are not limited to): Wooden chair legs, composition books, a wooden bed frame, & water bottles. We are trying to get her to wean off of ALL of the above (besides water bottles.)

Gunner @gunnerdobgsd is a mix. I always thought that he was a mix between a German Shepherd & a Doberman Pinscher. After further DNA testing, it was confirmed he is not. We were shocked to find out Gunner is actually five breeds. 50% German Shepherd Dog, 12.5% American Staffordshire Terrier, 12.5% Boxer, 12.5% Chow Chow, & 12.5% Rottweiler. No Doberman there! We still love him the same (if not more.) In all honesty, having Gunner is like having the perfect dog. Since the day he came home there has not been one accident in the house, not one torn up shoe or sock, & not one lost dinner plate.
